So the contractor started on the bathroom yesterday. Hurrah! I’m very excited to have an updated lavatory, but the excitement is bitter-sweet. With the future of our monetary situation being so up in the air, I can’t help feeling a bit remorseful starting this project. By the time I was laid off, I was already locked into the project; I had made my first payment and all the materials were ordered. I know I’m just reinvesting the money in my home, but it’s an improvement we didn’t really need to make right now. Oh well, enough of that! There’s no sense dwelling on something I couldn’t have avoided.
Please enjoy some documentation of Day 1:
Bathroom is all cleaned out and ready for demolition! Kinda sad really.

Curious Bella warily peers up the stairs.

More tearout. Note the hole where the soap dish used to be. It’s been like that for about 4 years!

They found these old bottles in the wall behind the tub. Some lazy contractors must have left them there during construction. I cleaned them up, and put them over our bar!
