Despite the fact that Mike and I have over 2 years of living in out house, the bedroom continued to be a source of decorating stress. At first there was a poorly selected color — something like a neutral mustard. While it would have been nice for a bright office or reading area, it did nothing for our bedroom in terms of mood. I should have known when the first time our friend Dave saw the house, he exclaimed, “We are SO repainting your bedroom!” To which I replied, “But Dave, we just painted it this color.” Now it’s “Delicious Melon” a fantastic sunny shade of orange from Sherwin Williams. Bedding was another problem. I either couldn’t find sheets or blankets that coordinated with the mustard, or the stuff that even remotely matched were dated and boring.
A few years ago, I stumbled upon a company online that makes custom, hand-made retro lampshades: Moon Sine Lamp and Shade. Ever since then, I’ve dreamed of one day purchasing one for the bedroom. Oh, to sit beaneath the soft glow of retro lampy love. In April I did the deed; I placed my custom order, and yesterday it arrived on my doorstep (6 weeks of patient waiting). Here it is in all it’s glory!
