Believe me when I say I tried EVERYTHING!! Melatonin did nothing for me, unfortunately.
Luckily, it looks like I may be back on track. Thanks for the well-wishes. :)

Really hope you feel back to yourself soon. Have you tried melatonin? It's natural and you don't wake up all groggy in the morning. Good luck...

I used to get insomnia for three day stretches about once every two months (for some reason about when I turned 33 it stopped). The best I can say is don't take any stimulants during the day because caffeine will prolong the insomnia. Caffeine to get through the day will stay in your system when you want to sleep and keep you awake. Thus making you take more caffeine the next day, ad nauseum.

Insomnia sometimes occurs when you feel like you need to get something done. Your body is keeping you awake so you can do it. So if you're thinking about the things you have todo try to distract your self with counting or reading before bed.

I would avoid self medicating with Tylenol PM or drinking to go to sleep. As they are masking a true problem if it exists. That said a doctor might prescribe Tylenol PM.

Generally everyone goes through some periods of insomnia. If it lasts for more than a week you would see a doctor who may send you to a sleep clinic. Hormone changes throughout life can affect how we sleep.

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well. Lack of sleep ranks up there with cold showers and tight fitting shoes as things that make daily life grind.

The more sleep deficient you get the harder it will be for your body to relax since it's in overdrive. Take some Tylenol PM early enough that you can get a full night's sleep (like 9 hours, and have Mike take care of Gabe for the night). Works for me, good luck!

Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to comment to make sure your story has not gone unread.

If Fight Club is to be believe, you could try chewing some Valerian root. :)
