Twerrific

So, I’ve joined the hordes of people using Twitter, and I’ve been using it long enough now to finally see the benefits for me. I haven’t written much on this site lately because of the deluge of work that I’ve taken on for various freelance clients on top of the 9 to 5. In my spare time, I find myself fretting over things like cleaning and cooking rather than what the next blog post will be. Twitter has sort of turned things around for me… While I still rarely have the time to sit down and craft a cleverly thought out blog post, I can certainly find the time to come up with a witty 140 character non-sequitur. I apologize if this is annoying to you, but I promise to make an attempt at humor or irony rather than post some boring detail about what I’m doing. I don’t think anyone wants to know the intricate details of my life because, frankly, I’m not that interesting.

I read Ms. Maggie Mason’s article on Twitter etiquette, and it seems that I fall into the “broadcaster” category of Twitter users. For me, it feels like a natural extension of this blog and it just makes posting easier. Because of the restrained size of updates, I don’t have to feel the stress of creating a lengthy post or worry that I’m letting people down by not posting something of substance. I know there are those that simply regurgitate the minutia of their lives; and while that’s OK for them, it’s not my cup o’ tea. So I installed the Twitter Tools plugin and now my tweets will be automatically posted to this site. (It’s also a handy workaround for the serious Twitter bug that keeps people from seeing more than 20 of my posts. Now I can keep a backup copy of everything here.)

Long story short: I’m not getting rid of long posts, but I hope my tweets will fill in during the busier times when I can’t post as often as I’d like.
