Two years have passed and our contract with Verizon was up for renewal as of yesterday. Mike and I have been eagerly anticipating this for some time because we grew weary of our old LG 3300 flip phones quite some time ago. At the time, they were decent, but bottom-of-the-line phones. They served us relatively well for what we needed even though they’re utterly featureless. Mike, being the research fiend freak that he is, was barraging me with calls about the latest deals and in-depth comparisons of every phone known to man ALL MONTH LONG. I can’t tell you how many times he changed his mind about phones. Bottom line is: they all suck.

Recently, I’ve sort of been coveting the Samsung Dual Flip phone, but I’m not much of a text-er, so the QWERTY keyboard is a little overkill for me. Still, I like it a lot. Unfortunately for us, that phone was LAST month’s special offer. This month’s special offer is BOGO on the Chocolate. At first, I was unenthusiastic about the touch keypad (to say the least); I prefer some sort of kinetic feedback, but this has none beyond digitized “click” or “beep” sounds. Meh. But we simply couldn’t pass up the deal – especially when we’ve already got the $100 credit for upgrades. Essentially, our phones would be free (plus accessories).
So last night we walked in to the store and picked out our colors and accessories; Mike got a White Chocolate and I got a Mint Chocolate. The creepy thing I realized later was that I wore a white shirt, and Mike wore a springy green shirt. Coincidence? I think not. We obviously know what we like. As far as not getting the phone I originally wanted: I’ll just have to suck it up and give it to Jesus.
