About Me
About me?? I am Vanessa Loftus (formerly Boehmke), a slightly eccentric 30-something with a couple of stories to tell. I live in the suburbs of Rochester, NY with my husband, Mike, and two lunatic neurotic cats.
I am unnaturally obsessed with Halloween. I LOVE the opportunity to dress up in costume. It’s quite possibly my favorite event of the year. I think the Halloween decor in my crawl-space could give the Christmas stuff a run for its money. Some of my more memorable costumes were Carmen Miranda and Wonder Woman — each made from scratch by yours truly.
I am currently unemployed, and I plan to keep it this way. While I’m not exactly looking for a full-time gig, I welcome any freelance propositions. I’ve done the 8 to 5 gig for several years, and quite frankly, it sucks balls! Most of the time I daydreamed about the things I could have been doing at home. For the first time, I actually have the luxury to be able to do those things. Plus, I can make a bit of extra dough doing design work. Granted, it’s not the kind of money I made at the day job, but I don’t care. I didn’t love it, to say the least. I’m just extremely thankful that we can afford to live on 1-and-a-half incomes. Hopefully we can keep that up, because I’m a million times happier this way. Maybe it’s time to start cranking out the babies. ;-)
I started this blog in 2003 not realizing what an addictive thing it would become. The only diaries I ever bothered keeping up with were filled with juvenile teenage drivel like, “Oh my gosh, I was totally staring at Chris during science class and he SAW me!!!” or, “I can’t believe my parents won’t let me go with Jeanine to the Aerosmith concert. I hate them sooo much!” Ever since those awkward years, I could not bring myself to write more than three consecutive entries in any kind of journal. For some bizarre reason, I’m able to keep up with this with some regularity. While I might not post something every day, I enjoy chronicling some of the more colorful happenings in my life and hopefully it’s something that people find amusing.
Pull up a chair and stay a while.
